Add CC and BCC capabilities to emails from HubSpot

We have a need for the option to add CC and BCC to emails that are sent from HubSpot. We have two important use cases for this.

Use case 1:
We have a registration form set up on our website. When someone registers, they receive an automated email from us through HubSpot saying "Thank you for registering!". Since we have a lot of different people signing up, it's very important for us to follow up on that email.

If we could add CC to me on the email that is sent out, I could pick up the conversation with the person registering very quickly. I could simply press "Reply" on the email and continue the conversation with the lead.

If I want to do this now with today's HubSpot solution, I'd have to copy/paste the lead's email address from the internal registration confirmation email, write a subject line that wouldn't confuse the lead, and then write the message to the lead. This delays the response time dramatically, and takes up substantially more resources.

Use case 2:
If we could add BCC to emails as well, it would give people two great advantages;
(1) HubSpot emails could easily be integrated with almost ANY CRM (ex. Email to CRM option), and
(2) it would add the contents of the email to the CRM (more than just "Sent Subject Line").

If anything is unclear, I would loooove to explain in more detail.

Hi folks-

Just dropping back in to say thank you for all the comments & thoughts here. For transparency, this is still not yet on the roadmap. We are evaluating it as something to add in the back half of this year, but nothing is yet planned.

Please keep upvoting this, and dropping your use cases for it. We are following it and listening.

Cheers,

Jake

Thanks for your comments on the idea. This isn't planned for development in the next quarter. For transparency and clarity, I'm updating this issue to 'Not currently planned' for the time being. We are evaluating this feature, but it requires substantial changes in how a number of our backend systems work. Specifically how our event (open & click) tracking works today.

If you are willing to jump on a call to talk more about this functionality, and your specific use cases send me a direct message.  I would love to understand and learn more from you. Please feel free to upvote and continue to leave feedback on this thread.

Hi all, wanted to chime in here to let you know that we're definitely paying attention to this idea post, it's gathered a lot of votes, rightly so. At the moment we don't have a clear answer on when this might be available, I wanted to make sure and be transparent here to let you know. Your feedback and unique ideas/use-cases are really important so please do keep sharing, and as we have a clearer plan here I'll be sure and keep everyone posted. Thanks!

Wow, this would be incredibly cool! We obviously get form fill submission emails from HubSpot, but if the automatic email response from HubSpot could CC the Contact Owner or one specific User, they could just respond directly to the submitter, instead of the submitter receiving two separate email threads from our team. With how low open rates are these days, it's easy for form submitters to miss a follow-up email. Great idea!

Adding my vote for this feature!

Hello,

Adding my own use case to this:

We send an internal email to an external team when someone fills out a contact form for their division. Right now, each member of the team receives a separate email, which creates a separate thread for each team member on their end.

This becomes confusing when they each act on the same email, not knowing that the others have already handled it. They want a group email sent out, with each member CC'd, so that all of their actions stay in one thread.

We have a band-aid fix right now, but we would like a more comprehensive solution: CCing people in internal emails, so all communications stay inside one thread.

I read in another thread that laws may prevent CCing people in automated emails. Is that true?

A very helpful feature indeed!

We send out email via a workflow and need the email to pop into a specified advisor's inbox for immediate followup.

Hey HubSpot community,

We've also been missing this feature in HubSpot and know it's a common frustration here. So now my friend and I are trying to figure out a way to solve this based on what we ourselves and others have been saying.

If you're interested feel free to sign up to our waitlist here: https://www.mailmango.xyz/

We've chatted with some of you already and learned a lot. We're not launching anything just yet, but rather making sure we're on the right track.

If HubSpot can't provide this functionality themselves for whatever reason we're all about finding a solution together with the community.

Feel free to reach out directly to me at simonblackk@gmail.com if you're interested in hearing more.

Thanks!

My employer is a FINRA registered firm and is obliged to archive all email communications.  Without the functionality to add a BCC address, we are prevented from migrating from our legacy CRM to Hubspot.

Would definitely love the cc feature. Two use cases:

- Sending a welcome email to new clients and cc'ing the Director

- Sending an email for membership status and cc'ing the Director

I can't believe this isn't a feature yet 5+ after the initial request. It is especially needed, in our case, for marketing automation (workflow) emails, so that we are able to properly copy Executive Assistants to outgoing emails to clients in our distribution list. Please please please work on this. Thank you.

Got a client use case that's similar to the initial scenario: Bi-monthly event expo kiosks where leads sign up for information where they're told a sales rep will be intro'd for any further questions.

Not having the Sales Rep CC'd on the initial automated email adds 5+ extra steps to manually start a new thread (which means out of 100+ leads only a few will actually get the followup) instead of just putting it in the sales rep's inbox for Reply (or the lead could Reply All, as well).

Look, put the feature in Marketing Enterprise OR make it a special Monthly Add-On, whatever, if the concern is protecting your email send reputation.

But if we're trying to get clients' Sales and Marketing in one system, this is a must-have use case for many B2B Expo/Event businesses.

100% YES! This is a major gap in our Marketing Email flows. We work with teams that use the Marketing Emails as a type of 'receipt', and we need to be able to see an exact copy of what was sent to the Contact, and when. Having a BCC/CC functionality would mean our appropriate teams have visibility, and that actions could be triggered based on the emails.

We want our account managers to be CCed into NPD feedback surveys so that they can re-send them on to clients who say they missed it but verbally agree to doing them. We find it is a blocker to feedback if a customer has to scroll through 2 weeks worth of emails to find a survey they originally missed.

We want to be able to use the reply-to email address to be a personal work email, but it should be CC'd to a global inbox.

This functionality is needed for B2B workflows where you may be emailing to a group of people and don't want to be viewed as spam. It makes sense to send these emails to teams with everyone cc'ed including a contact owner for visibility.

Hi all--

Currious if there has been any advancement on this idea? I have a use case that would help our implementation very much. I'm getting feedback from our sales team they aren't aware of the email being sent to the client and would like to be cc'd on the emails in the event of the client asking "Can you talk me through the email I just got?"

Thanks

Bob

I would really love something like this as I'm not getting notified when contacts have left a company and we're unable to integrate our CRM to HubSpot. It would be nice to see the auto-replies so appropriate action can be taken to help clean up our contact lists and, hopefully, improve the health on our marketing emails. The email address that is currently being used is one I don't have access to, nor will get access to, and the person monitoring the mailbox doesn't forward any of the auto-replies to me.

We have a customer who needs to document specific communication to the customer file in SAP. This is done via a customer ID field in the email subject header.

It would be perfect to add a BCC field to the email template. Interestingly, this request is seven years old....

Not sure if this was mentioned previously, but marketing emails are used in automated communications.  This would be helpful functionality if you want to automate sending a welcome or renewal email to a customer and cc the specific account team.

I continue to be shocked by the fact that this email cc capability is still not available. As a risk advisory firm with a membership service, we regularly reach out to our clients with analysis updates, and we need the flexibility to copy both Executive Assistants and our account coverage team as needed. We're having to turn things upside down, try complicated integrations, just because Hubspot won't work on this relatively straightforward fix. In hindsight, I regret our decision to switch to HubSpot, as this issue has created significant operational challenges. This has been a very disappointing service experience.
