Accept more decimals of cent values for product price

Hello,

We were excited to see the Product Library feature. Sadly, we can't use it because it does not support fractional cents.

We need to quote $0.0250/minute (2.5 cents/minute) for usage of our product, but HubSpot rounds all dollar amounts two two decimal places ($0.03/minute in this case).

We'd prefer 4 decimal places, but we can live with three. Please HubSpot, might you consider supporting fractional cents?

Hey team - just a heads up that we've fixed the bug on those "Standard" templates, but I would still recommend using the non-Standard ones going forward. Those "standard" ones are the uncustomizable versions of the same template and will be sunset-long term in favor of the customizable versions.

@marshan thanks for calling that out. That's a bug with our "Standard" templates that we're currently working to fix. The features works fine with our non-"Standard" templates, which are also customizable. I'd recommend using Basic, Original, or Modern (i.e. those without the "Standard" label) going forward.

Hey folks - Ethan here, product manager for the Product Library. Apologies for the missed quarter of updates, but I'm happy to report that this feature is currently being rolled out automatically! We're at 50% of all customers right now, but we should be at 100% by end of this week (week of August 29th). Let me know in this thread if you have any comments.

Line Items or Products can now store very small, highly precise values in a Line Item or Product object’s “Unit Price” field - up to six decimals of precision. Until now, product and line item prices were limited to the decimal precision of the portal’s currency. So, for example, if a Line Item or Product had a price in US dollars, that price would be limited to two decimal places (e.g. $12.42). If the product or line item had a price in Japanese yen, it would be limited to zero decimal places (e.g. ¥14). If a user attempted to add a higher decimal precision than what is standard for the currency, the value would round to the nearest value that is standard for the currency.

As a sidenote, I'll be updating the top Ideas associated with Products and Line Items ~once per quarter going forward. I will include (1) whether or not a feature is on the roadmap for that quarter or not and (2) what our rollout plan for that feature is (e.g. will there be a beta or not). If you have feedback about additional information I could include in these updates, drop a note here. If I see a theme, I'll adjust my updates to address that.

I won't be doing this for every idea, but most ideas above 100 kudos will get this treatment. Previously, I had been trying to do it for ideas greater than 25 upvotes, but unfortunately the volume is too high to be practical.

Hey team - we understand the gravity of the feature and are working as fast as we can to get it out. Currently, we're blocked by some work that needs to happen to enable this feature across all currencies, but it is being actively worked on. We did not misunderstand the need, prices are just more complex (and have more far reaching consequences), so we decided to roll out fractional quantities first to get some value out as soon as we could.

I'll keep everyone in the loop as we get closer. The good news is that we probably won't have a beta for this feature - we will just begin an automated rollout when it's ready so it gets out as soon as possible. Thanks for the feedback, as always.

Hey folks - Ethan here, product manager for the Product Library. I just wanted to provide an update. We're still hard at work on this and just waiting to resolve some internal dependencies so we can get this feature rolled out. I can't say for sure when it will go out, but I would expect some time in the first half of this quarter (Q2, 2022). The previous update still holds. We will be offering higher decimal precision in a number of fields (e.g. Quantity, Price) on Line Items associated with Quotes and Deals and we likely won't run a beta for this feature since it is relatively "low risk". I'll update this idea once it has been delivered.

Hey folks - my name is Ethan and I'm the product manager for the Products and Line Items team. I just wanted to let you know that this is on our roadmap for this quarter and, while I can't give you an exact timeline for release, I would expect that sometime next quarter you will be able to add both fractional quantities in our "Quantity" field and you will have a higher decimal precision (ideally up to 4+ decimal places) in our "Price" field.

This particular feature probably won't have a wide beta. We'll test it it with a dozen or so teams, then we'll just roll it out to everyone on a percentage basis. I'll update this thread when we begin the percentage rollout.

Hi, I was directed here by a CSR because Currency Properties embedded in a Quote are rounding to the nearest dollar. For example, if you put $.23 it displays as $0.00. If you show $1.23, it shows as $1.00. Is this the same rounding issue or is this a separate bug? If it is a separate bug, what is the best way to report it?

@ethankopit do you have a firm(er?) date for this release please?

This feature is crucial for our business, any update on the release date?

I have a similar issue. We sell advertising and our unit prices are expressed as CPMs or cost per one thousand impressions. For instance, 1 million impressions at $10 CPM = $10,000. I can't send out a quote for 1 million/1000 just to get the right amount calculated.

@ethankopit will this feature be released this month by any chance? we dramatically need it. thanks!

@ethankopit  any progress on this?

I wonder how difficult this could be for a large team like HubSpot.

agree with @coskunfirat we really need it. Can you please give an update when this is coming?

Yes! This is something that we need ASAP!

We are trying to use this to charge state taxes. If we enter 6.625 it rounds up to 6.63 could result in a lawsuit for over charging on taxes.

Please update this field for best client experience.

@ethankopit can you please let us know when this is coming? This is today the MAJOR blocking point for full adoption in our company... We desperately need it....

As many people shared this is a major blocking point in our company. @ethankopit can you please let us know when this is coming? I remember that the approximate date was in mid of q2, however it has already passed!

hello, can you please give us an update on this @ethankopit ?

This is causing massive reporting inconsistencies for us in HubSpot, our exec team is pushing for migrating to another CRM if this cannot be solved. Many thanks for any news when this is coming!

Hello  @ethankopit,

We noticed that there is a release for decimal problem on "quantity".  Can you please let us know when the "unit price" decimal fix is coming?

[Now Live] Line Items now support fractional quantities

May 24, 2022

What is it?

Starting today, Deals and Quotes users can now add fractional values (e.g. 1.33, 2.2567) to their Line Items' "quantity" field. So, for example, they can sell their customers 1.5 hours of consulting, or 2.225 tonnes of concrete. Or, maybe they get fancy and offer 3.1415926 crates of pie. No matter what they sell, users now have up to 7 points of decimal precision in their quantity fields.

This update is available to all HubSpot portals (i.e. Free+) and all users within those portals.

Unit pricing is a big issue for us.  An example, we might sell an item at 1.2632 each. Need this fix ASAP.

I cannot get anyone to do quotes without this fix.  Effects sales total buy-in for HubSpot.

We are in the transition period from Salesforce to HubSpot, but we haven't been able to do this for months. We have to continue using salesforce because of this issue.

@ethankopit maybe this is a small issue for you but it's a major issue for Hubspot users. Horrible experience for any department in our company that will use HubSpot.

Oh no! As the original poster here and one of the many who cannot use products and quotes because of the lack of decimals in the unit price, I have to ask (and I think we're owed an answer from @ethankopit  ... did HubSpot misunderstand the need here? Did they just roll out the one and only fix on May 24, or are more changes yet to come? It's much more common to have fractional pricing than fractional unit quantity, IMHO.

Thank you @ethankopit , for your participation here and for confirming more is yet to come!

Same for us. We sell data via our API and need 4 decimal places for things to be accurate in quotes and invoices.
