Accept more decimals of cent values for product price

Hello,

We were excited to see the Product Library feature. Sadly, we can't use it because it does not support fractional cents.

We need to quote $0.0250/minute (2.5 cents/minute) for usage of our product, but HubSpot rounds all dollar amounts two two decimal places ($0.03/minute in this case).

We'd prefer 4 decimal places, but we can live with three. Please HubSpot, might you consider supporting fractional cents?

-Darren

Hey team - just a heads up that we've fixed the bug on those "Standard" templates, but I would still recommend using the non-Standard ones going forward. Those "standard" ones are the uncustomizable versions of the same template and will be sunset-long term in favor of the customizable versions.

@marshan thanks for calling that out. That's a bug with our "Standard" templates that we're currently working to fix. The features works fine with our non-"Standard" templates, which are also customizable. I'd recommend using Basic, Original, or Modern (i.e. those without the "Standard" label) going forward.

Hey folks - Ethan here, product manager for the Product Library. Apologies for the missed quarter of updates, but I'm happy to report that this feature is currently being rolled out automatically! We're at 50% of all customers right now, but we should be at 100% by end of this week (week of August 29th). Let me know in this thread if you have any comments.

Line Items or Products can now store very small, highly precise values in a Line Item or Product object’s “Unit Price” field - up to six decimals of precision. Until now, product and line item prices were limited to the decimal precision of the portal’s currency. So, for example, if a Line Item or Product had a price in US dollars, that price would be limited to two decimal places (e.g. $12.42). If the product or line item had a price in Japanese yen, it would be limited to zero decimal places (e.g. ¥14). If a user attempted to add a higher decimal precision than what is standard for the currency, the value would round to the nearest value that is standard for the currency.

As a sidenote, I'll be updating the top Ideas associated with Products and Line Items ~once per quarter going forward. I will include (1) whether or not a feature is on the roadmap for that quarter or not and (2) what our rollout plan for that feature is (e.g. will there be a beta or not). If you have feedback about additional information I could include in these updates, drop a note here. If I see a theme, I'll adjust my updates to address that.

I won't be doing this for every idea, but most ideas above 100 kudos will get this treatment. Previously, I had been trying to do it for ideas greater than 25 upvotes, but unfortunately the volume is too high to be practical.

June 03, 2022 06:59 AM

Hey team - we understand the gravity of the feature and are working as fast as we can to get it out. Currently, we're blocked by some work that needs to happen to enable this feature across all currencies, but it is being actively worked on. We did not misunderstand the need, prices are just more complex (and have more far reaching consequences), so we decided to roll out fractional quantities first to get some value out as soon as we could.

I'll keep everyone in the loop as we get closer. The good news is that we probably won't have a beta for this feature - we will just begin an automated rollout when it's ready so it gets out as soon as possible. Thanks for the feedback, as always.

Hey folks - Ethan here, product manager for the Product Library. I just wanted to provide an update. We're still hard at work on this and just waiting to resolve some internal dependencies so we can get this feature rolled out. I can't say for sure when it will go out, but I would expect some time in the first half of this quarter (Q2, 2022). The previous update still holds. We will be offering higher decimal precision in a number of fields (e.g. Quantity, Price) on Line Items associated with Quotes and Deals and we likely won't run a beta for this feature since it is relatively "low risk". I'll update this idea once it has been delivered.

Hey folks - my name is Ethan and I'm the product manager for the Products and Line Items team. I just wanted to let you know that this is on our roadmap for this quarter and, while I can't give you an exact timeline for release, I would expect that sometime next quarter you will be able to add both fractional quantities in our "Quantity" field and you will have a higher decimal precision (ideally up to 4+ decimal places) in our "Price" field.

This particular feature probably won't have a wide beta. We'll test it it with a dozen or so teams, then we'll just roll it out to everyone on a percentage basis. I'll update this thread when we begin the percentage rollout.

Would also need decimals for quantities. An example of this is some products we have in hourly unity. So something could be quoted at 2.5 hours of consulting work, for example.

@ethankopit Can we get an update on this? It sounds like it's important to quite a few people/organizations, and because apparently, it's possible to feed the database much more precise numbers via the API, it sounds like a UI-only change.

On the scale of one day-one week-one month, where does your team believe this request falls?

We would like to know when this update will be available.  This update is a very important one for us as we cannot use the Quote product to the extent we need to.

Do you have an ETA on this update?  Urgent!!

All of the above! Please bring this feature. It is important for so many cases.

This is a crucial feature for us. Without it, we can't really make use of the quotes tool HubSpot has built – SMS prices are low, and those are reflected on our offers. They can range between 0.11 EUR to 0.0001 EUR, multiply that with quantities of 5-15 million (per month), every decimal point makes a huge difference.

Any ETA on this?

We really want this feature as well since we have settled on 5 decimal places for our pricing.  In the meantime, for locations like Brazil, where this is a regulatory requirement, we are storing the pricing in the database with 5 decimals and we are manually typing in a free text field on the quote.  Not ideal, but we couldn't use HubSpot in Brazil otherwise.

Please add decimal numbers as unit options for products.. This is very important to my company as we sell products regarding surfaces and this as usual don't take a full quantities. Thanks

Oh my, Hubspot only handles 2 decimals! Support for at least 3 decimals, whereas 4 decimals are preferred, is required when working with low per-transaction prices and multi-currency and many other types of businesses it seems from the previous comments to this idea.

We use the Hubspot product feature as a core component in our sales work, however the 2 decimals mean that we have to handhold several quotes, invoicing, reporting etc.. It is frustrating.

Hubspot, get to work, please.

HubSpot: is this in development? And do you have an idea of when it might be released?
Also, would love to sign up for beta testing.

Thanks, S

Hubspot: this point is essential for our company.

We do not always sell products in rounded unit quantities (i.e: 2.5 metres of a particular product) and HubSpot is currently rounding these quantities.

Definite upvote on this functionality 👍

In order to use the Products and Quoting feature, it is imperative that we have a decimal point functionality in the Quantity column.  Id love to roll this out but we cannot until this has been implemented.

This would be very helpful for us as many of our products have prices that are lower than $0.01

I have the same need as  MollUser1 :

"This kind of feature would be very helpful.

We have products, where we sometimes want to charge 1 unit. And sometimes 0,25 Units. a.s.o.

Please add decimal numbers as unit options for products.

for now we have to add the same product with different value and mark it over the name as a different unit number."

@ethankopit Any news on this? It looks like quite a lot of people are clamoring for what is surely a small change to the UI.

It would be very important for me too, because my company's unit prices can go as low as 0.0012 USD, but with volumes in the thousands-millions of units. As things stand, our quotes are borderline useless because the Hubspot UI rounds this off to 0.00 USD which completely throws off our calculations.

The fact that this is possible to modify via API tells me that the restriction is strictly UI-based. As such, surely it's easy to change the rounding precision to, say, five decimal places?
