Ability to lock down existing line item properties

It would be great if you could choose which line item properties were editible after creation.

 

We have a reporting system outside of HubSpot which relies on our line item names matching up with those in the reports. We have switched off the ability for users to create custom line items but, at the moment, they can still select an existing line item and then edit anything they want. 

 

If we could restrict access so they could only edit certain properties in a line item (e.g. price, billing frequency) but were unable to edit others (e.g. name, custom properties) it would help to reduce errors and additional manual work in our reporting.

Also wound be great only superadmin or just some users can edit the coluns.

We appreciate the ability to make changes to the various products, line items, unit price, etc.  However, I agree these settings need to have the ability to be locked as needed.  I would love to see the ability to lock the unit price, viewable columns in a quote, etc.

This has been a large roadblock for us.

Without being able to lock Unit Price, we often do not have discounts reflected. Being on the Ops side, it hurts the reporting and accountability for discount thresholds.

This should not be a property that needs to be micromanaged by an admin, but when anyone can edit the base price, this is the only solution.

This is also an issue for us as well-- we really need to option to lock down on editable fields within product properties as this syncs over to our ERP system.

We would appreciate more control over what can be viewed and edited in the Line Items as well.
Currently, there are too many variables that all users have the ability to change.
We too would prefer to lockdown the Product Properties as these sync with our billing system.

We would also like to hide some of the number of column available to users. You can hide some of them, but not all. And anyone has the ability to make the hidden ones visible again.

Having the option to remove the "At Payment" option and force a Start Date, would also be helpful as well.

Totally agree with the comments above. Locking down some Line Items properties is essential to make sure the CRM data and the financial system data are aligned. Also, this is very important to avoid some immutable properties being changed. 

Another thing that's important is to lock down the properties after a certain stage of the pipeline, to make sure the data is not edited after the contract/order form is created.

@matheusjiran  good point! I have been thinking the same for a while.

 

 

When something is closed (won or lost) there should only be super admin edit access. We have instances where someone has moved something out of closed lost vs creating a new deal, and it skews our reporting heavily.

This is something we would welcome as well. The ability to control the line item properties and either allow them to be edited on non-editable field would be great. So an example would be that the Unit Price could only be edited by an Admin and the Sale agent doesn't have the ability to edit the unit price.

Yes, please fix this.  Companies HAVE to add more and more products over time, which means older products should become obsolete.  By not allowing us to "hide" products, our teams are selecting the WRONG product all the time.  And we can not delete the LINE ITEM or product because then it would erase reporting on old data from those old line items or products.  It shouldn't be that hard to allow SUPER ADMIN's to "hide" certain products...

This seems like a big (and basic) miss. If we cannot lock down item descriptions, sales teams can edit them to whatever they like which is really risky for the business. You allow us to lock down creating custom line items, but ultimatley still allow for a custom line items by allowing anyone to edit existing products to anything they desire within the quote.

It would be great if you could address this issue. We are currently not able to lock our line item data structure. This is a massive road block for enterprise scale businesses.

Imagine, a sales person adds a line item & can just chang the name of the product.

e.g. let's call it Office 366 now... 🙂

being able to lock line item element is a "no brainer question"
-> if you want ot create reporting. why giving the ability to change the unit pricing as you can set a discount????

besing able to decommit a line item because the price has changed is also a "no brainer question",

-> is there any company who never changed their price and want to offer seller only new sone to select and keep old deals with the pricing live at the moment of the purchase.

 

Is there any product roadmap avaiable to check if this taken into account soon?

Hey, we only noticed this now while finiliasing our integraiotn with DealHub as our CPQ.

This is a major pain-point for us, it's create doubt in our in-house data credability. The fact that any sales user could just go in and edit these record (even after a deal was closed) is mind blowing to me. All we need here is the option to restrict the editing access fro line items.

This small improvement would make the line item feature great. Currently I don't recomment using line items because of this.

From my point of view this is a fix & not an idea for a new feature.

 

Does anyone from the community know a way how we can address this with HubSpot in a more urgent matter?

This is a critical element for data integrity. With large numbers of products, it would be easy for a sales rep to disrupt data integrity by editing line item properties in a quote/proposal.  This is such a data integrity issue that we are questioning the benefit level of the quoting system as a whole.  If the sales rep can alter the line item with the discount function, this should be enough (there should also be a way to limit the amount of discount by line item and addition of whole quote discount).  For us, there is no need for them to alter the unit price, which MUST remain fixed for our reporting and profit margin analysis.  Can someone from Hubspot please reply as to whether this is coming or not?

Commenting for visibility. This is absolutely needed and we cannot have these fields open for editing for everyone.
