Hello from the Sales Hub team. We are actively planning to add a toggle to disable document downloads. The idea is that we would add this toggle during Sales Document link creation so that the ability to download can be controlled at the link-level rather than strictly at the document level. I will provide an update once this feature is available.
I strongly support this feature request. In many real sales and client-facing scenarios, we need the ability to share documents in view-only mode without allowing the recipient to download the file.
Right now, every shared HubSpot document can be downloaded freely, which creates major limitations when sending proposals, quotes, pricing sheets, or any proprietary materials. For many businesses, this is a serious security and confidentiality concern.
A “Disable Download” option would bring huge value, including:
Protecting intellectual property and sensitive content
Preventing unauthorized resharing
Improving security when sending proposals or internal documents
Allowing HubSpot to compete with platforms like DocuSign, PandaDoc, Notion, and Google Workspace which already support secure view-only modes
This feature is strongly needed by many teams who rely on HubSpot for sales and document workflows.
Please consider prioritizing this enhancement — it would make a big difference for daily HubSpot users.
