A Prideful Farewell: How to Support the LGBTQ+ Community after Pride

Today marks the last day of Pride month, a time of heightened awareness of LGBTQ+ causes and inclusion. Yet as the rest of the year continues, remember there are still ample opportunities to support LGBTQ+ causes globally and in your local communities!

Internally, HubSpot showed support for its LGBTQ+ brethren through its “Growing with Pride” event, which gave HubSpotters the opportunity to complete a series of challenges involving both financial and emotional support throughout the entire month of June.

If you’re interested in continuing to contribute to LGBTQ+ causes or possibly create your own personal or organizational challenges, here are a few of many global or national organizations that could use your help:

The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the United States’ most prominent crisis intervention and suicice prevention organization for LGBTQ+ youth under the age of 25. They offer not only 24/7 phone line and messaging services, but also training and curriculum for adult allies who want to better support LGBTQ+ youth in their own communities. The Trevor Project also has several volunteer groups in many major U.S. cities as well as advocacy groups that push for legislation that protects LGBTQ+ youth.

All Out

Based in Germany, All Out is a global organization that assists in mobilizing resources against any and all kinds of LGBTQ+ discrimiation. This can include mustering support against anti-LGBTQ+ legislation or moblizing activists against crackdowns on Pride parades or other LGBTQ+ events.

GATE (Trans, Gender Diverse, and Intersex Advocacy)

GATE is an organization dedicated to fighting for trans, gender diverse, and intersex rigths. Projects include those that help bolster the international HIV response, support trans activists in multiple countries, stymie transphobia, and fight for greater global support from organizations such as the United Nations. The CRG Strategic Initiative Project builds increased advocacy within marginalized groups to thwart the international spread of HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis while supporting transition plans for transgender communities in middle-income countries.

Covenant House

Covenant House offers housing and support services for LGBTQ+ youth who are often disconnected from their families or other social support. Covenant House has helped more than 1 million homeless LGBTQ+ youth, many of which come from abusive houses, flee from oppressive countries, or are past victims of human trafficking. The organization provides basic needs through meals, showers, clothes, medicine, and safe sleeping quarters.

Amnesty International

Amnesty International is a global human rights organization that fights against human rights violations, including discrimination against the LGBTQ+ community. Other focuses include advocacy for freedom of expression, abolition of death penalties, the end of torture and police brutality, and fighting climate change, among several other causes.
