Domain only works when I add /home

Hi all,

I've bought the domain andero.be, yet when I search for it it shows a 404 error. I found out that when I search for andere.be/home it works.

Is there a way that I can fix this so I don't have to tell everybody that they have to add /home after my website?

thanks in advance,

Erian

Hi,

Thank you very much for your support.

I've made a screen recording. Let me know if I missed anything you need.

For clarification, I accidentally made al my pages as landing pages. So I copied my home page and made it a website page as well. I switched the settings to see if it works as a website page, but the results are the same. So I switched it back.

Hi @EVanHecke happy to help, this comes up quite frequently

When you connect your DNS, it assigns the domain to the website, blog, and landing pages. Because a default blog exists, it becomes parked on the root domain (your URL without anything after the /) - preventing you from publishing a website page without text in the content slug (e.g. /home)

To resolve this, go to Settings > Content > Blog and add text (such as "blog") to the Blog slug setting and save.

This will free up the root domain and allow you to publish your home page with the content slug blank.

Please note that this happens whether you've created a blog post or not, the setting you need to change is unrelated to an individual post, it is for the blog listing page (the home for the blog posts).

Hi,

Thanks for you answer.

When I followed your steps I found out that there was no blog made. Even not a default one. When I created one and added a slug to free the root domain it didn't help.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Kind regards,

Erian

Hi @EVanHecke thanks for the update, there could be a few things causing this and it's hard to tell without seeing how you have everything configured in your account.

Could you share screenshots or a video recording (such as a loom) that walks through your domain settings, blog settings, and each of your website page settings, including any archived pages?

If you'd prefer to share privately, you can DM me instead of posting here.
