emails showing / not showing up on company dashboard

Hi if someone can help me.

2 examples because one is showing up on the company dashboard & contact and one is only showing up on the contact dashboard

Company's I create a contact and include the contact name and email

- that should sync all email correspondance and show up in the company dashboard and the contact as well correct?

or how do you do that because I have one where it does and the other company I created and added a contact with email it is only showing up in the contact

I am sending the emails through my gmail , not through hubspot

Hi @chatty709,

The other contacts at the company will not be removed. The secondary contact they are referring to is the one that you are merging together.

I would recommend merging those contacts: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/merge-records

After merged you will have 1 record with both the name and the email address.

Hi @chatty709,

There is an email property that exists by default on the contact record, so you shouldn't have to create that.

Hi @chatty709,

The first thing I would check is that you are logging the activity to both records.

Screenshot 2023-06-08 at 8.59.55 AM.png

That should also indicate whether or not the contact is associated with the company, which is another thing to confirm.

If neither of those are the issue it may be a result of how your report is built, if you are referring to dashboards as report dashboards.

Hi Josh thanks for your help. How do I confirm if that?

if I don't have the email associated (put in) to the contact info yet. Once I add that how do I make sure it's being logged?

and do I have to put the email address anywhere specific in the contact section?

example: Company Contact

- I then add Contact

-Put person's name

-added a field for email address and that's where I put the email

Now some companies I have multiple contacts

Hi @chatty709,

If the email is not in the system yet it won't show the company like the screenshot I sent you. However, if you choose to log that it will automatically create the contact record in HubSpot.

Please be sure that you have this setting enabled if you want HubSpot to automatically create the company record and associate it: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/crm-setup/automatically-create-and-associate-companies-with-contacts

If you have multiple contacts at a company and have enabled the setting above, it will automatically associate all of those contacts to the company based on the domain name.

Josh this is very helpful, thank you for taking the time to help.

If I decide to manually add in the email addresses where in the contact information would I do that? I just created a property for "email" so will that work or is there somewhere specific I have to?
