Sendgrid sent from gmail = Contact created?

Hi there,

We are looking to send emails to prospects that trigger when a certain criteria is met on our site.

We have their emails already and plan to email them using Sendgrid from a gmail account.

We would want to create a contact in Hubspot for them if we send them an email

We'd also want to mark some movement down a funnel if they respond to the email.

Are both these possible please?

@HCaisley1 The users I know that are leveraging Sendgrid create a list in HubSpot that they want to email, export that list to use for the email send, then create an updated import list with any changes that need to be made for those contacts (such as opt-out) but there isn't a native integration and it is a very manual process to maintain.

There's native functionality in HubSpot to send emails via API for transactional emails, but it doesn't sound like your emails are transactional and might be marketing emails to nurture your contacts - there is a new beta for marketing emails via API for marketing pro/enterprise users.

My guess is that you're using Sendgrid as an alternative to a HubSpot subscription for emails? Really big assumption here which I try not to do, sorry if this isn't the case.

There won't be a way to automate what you're doing, but you can use the contact import tool by using lists based on the Sendgrid actions you want to use as a trigger to add the contacts to HubSpot and then update their funnel/lifecycle status. You'd need to export the data from Sendgrid or manually create the csv file to use for the import.

@HCaisley1 hi! If you want to use SendGrid as email delivery service, you may be interested in a new HubSpot workflows addon that lets you send emails via SendGrid to your enrolled HubSpot contacts. More details in this post

Hi @HCaisley1! Welcome to the Community-- happy to have you here 😊

Thank you for your post. I understand you are looking to initiate emails to be sent from Sendgrid when a particular trigger is met on your website. Is this something you already have configured in Sendgrid?

If so, I assume the questions would then be if you can have a contact created in HubSpot and then some indication that they have replied. Currently, HubSpot does not have any native integrations with Sendgrid. If you are using the Sales Add-in for Chrome, then emails sent from that email should be logged to HubSpot and create a contact, but I am not sure that the replies would log if it is not a gmail address specifically.

I want to tag some of our experts here - @Phil_Vallender , @Jnix284 , @Olivia_Bagnall , do any of you know if this would be possible with Sendgrid emails and HubSpot contacts? Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Best,
Kennedy

Thanks for this Kennedy

Yes it is setup in Sendgrid.

Could we make the email send to the BCC tracking email and that be enough?

The email we're sending from is a gmail one.
