Receiving Emails Originated By Contact Not Being Logged

I have received emails that were originated by a contact that I have in Hubspot. But the email they sent me is not in the history under their contact page.
Do emails that get logged into the history have to originate from me?

One point that the article outlines is that the email can only be logged if it is a reply to an email that was logged to the CRM or through a connected inbox. An email that the contact initiates to you will not be logged on their timeline, as their is no 'log in CRM' associated with that email.
