Hello @Tim,
It isn't possible to retroactively import emails from Gmail into the Hubspot CRM. One workaround is to manually log the email. To do this, go to a contact record, click "Log Activity", change "Log a Call" to "Log an Email", change the date and time to when it was sent, and then copy and paste the email. I know this workaround isn't feasible for a large number of emails, but it might work for you if there is a reasonable number.
I hope this helps!

Hey @mattswitzer. Check in with me at scot@trujay.com in about one-two weeks and we should have a solution finished. Our dev team has started building import solution directly for historical emails from gmail into HubSpot.

@Tdmc @Fossy The solution is built and we have run several tests and happy with the results. You can read about it here: http://help.migratemycrm.com/getting-started/how-do-i-connect-to-gmail. If you'd like to do an import, please contact me at scot@trujay.com and would be happy to discuss with you.

We just ran into a similar issue where a number of emails weren't logged in HubSpot bc the Chrome extension was disabled.
While there is no automated way to bulk upload emails, we used the email forward feature as a workaround. https://knowledge.hubspot.com/settings/log-email-in-your-crm-with-the-bcc-or-forwarding-address#use-...
Basically forwarding every individual received email that needs to be logged in HS using the @forward.hubspot.com email address that's unique to your account.
Very manual workaround but still better than manually logging email with "log activity" feature.

This is the best solution I found for Gmail to Hubspot forwarding of old emails. Affordable and does the job for my once-off migration: multi-email-forward dot com
I'm a customer, no relation to the company and have used CloudHQ service before and they just work.
And you can always cancel after the first month once you've done the initial run 😉

Here's a solution
We managed to import all previous gmail emails using integromat. Here's the work flow:
I am sure this process could be optimised even more. But it has worked for us and I hope it helps someone else out.
* We have just migrated to hubspot this week, still in the process and looking forward growing our business on the platform. This is also our first post in the community.
* If we can do this, hubspot could easily create a plug and play solution. I am sure they would win even more business with it 🙂

Hope this will be helpful.

Hi Chris,
I'm not aware if you can export specific email conversations from Gmail. You can download all your email data from Gmail and filter it. Or if you need to export a few emails, you can manually create an Excel file for HubSpot Import.
| Activity Date | Email body | Email Direction | |
| Date | Body of email | address | Incoming/outgoing |
Hope you find this helpful!
ene 27, 2023 3:53 PM
Hey there,
Can you share a Sample of the excel file you trying to import?
Meantime: this was my way of doing it.
Mapping columns in your File to HubSpot properties:
| Column Header from File | Preview Information | Import AS | HubSpot Property |
| Activity Date | Email Properties | Activity Date | |
| Email Body | Email Properties | Email Body | |
| Contact Properties | |||
| Email Direction | Email Properties | Email Direction |

Are you trying to set up a new Gmail account? And Continuously getting errors, While the setup. One I want to tell you have you have to backup your emails and other data if this error is still the same this can lead to damage to your important data. To Backup your emails and other data you can use the Cigati Gmail Backup tool, this will create a backup of your whole data and store it on your local computer. It can also Export Emails from Gmail to Text, which can be easily get accessed offline.

Converting Gmail emails to Word documents can be quite useful, especially when you need to save important email correspondence. A manual solution for this task involves opening each email, copying the content, and pasting it into a Word document. However, this method is time-consuming, lacks formatting preservation, and doesn't handle attachments well.
The major drawback of the manual method is that it's not efficient for large quantities of emails, and it can lead to errors or missing information during the copy-paste process. To streamline this process and overcome these limitations, I recommend using the "Gmail Backup Tool." It automates the conversion process, retains formatting, and ensures that attachments are properly saved, making it a much more efficient and reliable solution for this task.

This is the weak link in Hubspot. Every business needs its contact/client conversation trail. in order the mange any CRM. Not to have this feature is unfathomable.

I have just created a Hubspot Idea for this. So, to encourage Hubspot to work on this much needed feature, please upvote it here:

This would be an awesome feature to see rolled out - for companies with a very long history of emailing back and forth with clients, it would be great for us to automatically pull in the emails in the connected inbox that are associated with contacts in the CRM!

Hi,
We moved from SalesforceIQ and I really missed the true email sync. I have no idea why HubSpot haven't added this as an optional feature.
I have found an app/integration that almost solves the problem. Dossier
It allows emails to be brought into HubSpot regardless of the platform you send from. However, it appears to bring them in as a 'logged email' which is more like a note. So although you have the record you can't reply from within HubSpot. You can respond by composing a new email within HubSpot but I don't think this will keep the email chain intact. Not a major problem but that is why I said it 'almost solves the problem.'
What do you all think?

Literally... if we could just get the previous six month's history when setting up Hubspot, it would be of great help.

So I want to switch from another CRM to Hubspot. I have several deals with several hundred emails to each deal. I have recreated the deals and the contacts in Hubspot, however I really need to see the emails with each contact/ deal before I started with Hubspot. Several other CRM's already do this out of the box (Pipedrive, Prosperworks, SalesforceIQ and Base CRM). How can I see my emails attached to the contacts prior to when I signed up with Hubspot (April 23, 2017)?
feb 5, 2018 11:06 AM
You can add Agile CRM to the list of others that provide good Gmail integration. I don't understand how anyone finds it acceptable to lose all of the gmail contacts and history when moving to Hubspot.
Hubspot seems like the best solution in the market, but this is a glaring weakness, and almost a showstopper for us.
feb 18, 2020 4:20 PM
Agree, we are just now being told about this issue after working with our 2nd migration team - the first was HubSpot's recommended migration team. Then we moved to a diamond partner with HubSpot. This is a big issue and one that should be addressed - it seems unethical that HubSpot does not disclose this since they know it is an issue.
