It isn't possible to retroactively import emails from Gmail into the Hubspot CRM. One workaround is to manually log the email. To do this, go to a contact record, click "Log Activity", change "Log a Call" to "Log an Email", change the date and time to when it was sent, and then copy and paste the email. I know this workaround isn't feasible for a large number of emails, but it might work for you if there is a reasonable number.
This is something Trujay Group could do for you as data migrations into HubSpot are our specialty. Historical emails data is an issue we see quite often and have been able to help many with getting the data imported in and associated to the correct Contacts.
Hey @mattswitzer. Check in with me at scot@trujay.com in about one-two weeks and we should have a solution finished. Our dev team has started building import solution directly for historical emails from gmail into HubSpot.
Basically forwarding every individual received email that needs to be logged in HS using the @forward.hubspot.com email address that's unique to your account.
Very manual workaround but still better than manually logging email with "log activity" feature.
This is the best solution I found for Gmail to Hubspot forwarding of old emails. Affordable and does the job for my once-off migration: multi-email-forward dot com
I'm a customer, no relation to the company and have used CloudHQ service before and they just work.
And you can always cancel after the first month once you've done the initial run 😉

How to import history emails from gmail?
SOLVE
Here's a solution
We managed to import all previous gmail emails using integromat. Here's the work flow:
Export your contacts by segments, stages etc. Whatever works best for you.
Use integromat to search and label the emails. Scenario 1:
Search format {from:Johndoe@etc.com from: emailb@hotmail.com from: etc@etc.com } has:nouserlabels
(You can make that format easily in a spreadsheet)
It's best to do this is batches of max 400 emails. I had issues with 900 emails, not sure what the maximum is.
I found labelling them like this a way to keep things sane and to easily check on the progress. Also, it allowed us to clean things up a bit and only import emails relevant to the contacts we want, rather than importing absoultely everything.
Module 4 catch all errors. I added this when an error happened and I could not figure it out, so wanted to ignore it.
Repeat this process to get the to: emails.
{to:Johndoe@etc.com to: emailb@hotmail.com to: etc@etc.com } has:nouserlabels
I am sure this process could be optimised even more. But it has worked for us and I hope it helps someone else out.
* We have just migrated to hubspot this week, still in the process and looking forward growing our business on the platform. This is also our first post in the community.
* If we can do this, hubspot could easily create a plug and play solution. I am sure they would win even more business with it 🙂
I'm not aware if you can export specific email conversations from Gmail. You can download all your email data from Gmail and filter it. Or if you need to export a few emails, you can manually create an Excel file for HubSpot Import.
Are you trying to set up a new Gmail account? And Continuously getting errors, While the setup. One I want to tell you have you have to backup your emails and other data if this error is still the same this can lead to damage to your important data. To Backup your emails and other data you can use the Cigati Gmail Backup tool, this will create a backup of your whole data and store it on your local computer. It can also Export Emails from Gmail to Text, which can be easily get accessed offline.
Converting Gmail emails to Word documents can be quite useful, especially when you need to save important email correspondence. A manual solution for this task involves opening each email, copying the content, and pasting it into a Word document. However, this method is time-consuming, lacks formatting preservation, and doesn't handle attachments well.
The major drawback of the manual method is that it's not efficient for large quantities of emails, and it can lead to errors or missing information during the copy-paste process. To streamline this process and overcome these limitations, I recommend using the "Gmail Backup Tool." It automates the conversion process, retains formatting, and ensures that attachments are properly saved, making it a much more efficient and reliable solution for this task.
Our team used to have a solution for this (Gmail-->HubSpot), however, Google APIs became too difficult to maintain connection/very costly to pay Google for this leverage.
The only other option for bulk historical emails to convert to HubSpot, is from your source CRM, so long as they are hosted there.
Top CRMs that host the emails through integration are Salesforce, Pipedrive, MS Dynamics, Capsule, Insightly, InfusionSoft.
Top CRMs that don't are Copper and Zoho.
You can find a migration partner in HubSpot's ecosystem to assist in extracting from these CRMs or if you can get them exported into files, they can be imported and associated with the corresponding Contacts, Companies and Deals.
Hope this helps some and know it won't be the answer for all, but is a solution that's available.
I think there is a use case you're missing. We receive emails as leads. We may converse with them a few times before adding them into hubspot as a contact.
We had SalesforceIQ before, and as soon as you added a contact's email address, it would sync all emails that were previously sent into SalesforceIQ, and then this contact can be shared.
With Hubspot, we also have to remember to turn on email tracking for some emails that we want to keep sync of. But for other emails, we don't want the email tracking on
I have the same ask. I am currently using freshsales.io as my CRM. Now that our company is growing, we want to get into marketing automation. Freshsales.io doesn't have any marketing automation. I likes Hubspot and Hubspot sales. However, Hubspot's gmail integration is pretty basic. People using google apps have tons of contact and this email historical emails with Google. A decent CRM+Gmail integration needs to be able show a contact and his email history. Freshsales is able to link emails to contacts/leads and this context is extremely valuable. Any chance this feature can be implemented. We would gladly switch our 15 users from freshsales to Hubspot Sales. Thanks Ali
