Gmail / Googlemail

I have a customer who has a @gmail.com account

When they emailed me, they used the @googlemail.com account - which is effectively the same thing.

Hubspot has recognised this as a separate email address, whereas infact, they are aliases of the same email account.

Is there a way to auto-recognise these two versions of the Gmail URL as being the same email address?

Gmail / Googlemail

Hello @benzil

HubSpot will look for a matching value in the Email property. If a contact already exists in your account with the same email address, the new contact information will be added to the existing contact record. Since it's a different email (@gmail.com /@googlemail.com) Would be expected for HubSpot to recognize this contact as different emails and create separate contacts.

I have two suggestions that could work :

  1.   Add multiple email addresses to a contact

Meaning that HubSpot will de-duplicate a contact record against its multiple email addresses.
  2. Merge contacts
If you have 2 different records for both of these emails you can merge them together

I hope this helps.

Stay Safe,

Kindly,

Pam

Gmail / Googlemail

his particular case, the domains both refer to the same email address,

i.e. gmail is effectively an alias of googlemail

so it would be a useful functionality of Hubspot could recongise these as both the same in this particular case
