Changes contact status to Non-marketing

Hubspot Sales Chrome extension for Gmail is setting the contact status to Non-marketing when it creates contacts. The extension is also changing contact status from Marketing to Non-marketing and adding a note like this to the property history:

“Property changed from use of the contact profile in a sales inbox extension.”

How can we change this behavior? We do not want the Hubspot Sales Chrome extension to change the contact status.

Thanks for reading

Changes contact status to Non-marketing

Hi @8ecf8427e,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I wanted to share this knowledge base article regarding default marketing contact status. The default value set via 1:1 emails such as those created by the Gmail extension cannot be changed. Contacts who are created by the sales extension will initially be set as non-marketing as mentioned here

If you would like to send marketing emails to these contacts, you can set them as marketing after they’re created either manually or via a workflow (with a Professional or Enterprise subscription).

I would suggest setting up a workflow with the following actions:

Enrollment trigger: (Contact property) Original source drill-down 1 is equal to any of SALES

Action: Set as marketing contact.

The Source drill-down 1 property values provide context related to a contact’s source. I wanted to share this KB documentation, which mentions that the Sales value means the contact was created or updated manually within the HubSpot Sales extension sidebar.

After you have set the non-marketing contacts to marketing contacts via the workflow, they will count towards to your marketing contact tier.

Hope that helps!

Best,

Kristen
