Should I leave One Trust for Hubspot cookie banner?
SOLVE
Hey there,
I was looking for a similar topic but I haven't find one. I am currently using Wordpress and a cookie banner (like One Trust, Cookie bot) for our website. Since our Hubspot plan includes the cookie banner option, I was evaluating whether to move from the external service to Hubspot, so we can spare money and have this service inside the CRM (easier to manage for us).
However I can't understand whether HS cookie banner is a 100% replacement for the other services and if I really just need to enable it from the "cookie" tab to make it work.
Am I missing something here? For example, can it track also other cookies or just Hubspot cookies? I see others are integrating HS cookie banner with One Trust and this makes me think that the Hubspot service is not complete. Did anyone experience this so far? Thanks!
It is possible to use HubSpot's built-in cookie banner, but it may not fully replace third-party services like OneTrust or Cookiebot, depending on your specific needs. External services often offer advanced features, such as more comprehensive consent management and additional integrations, which HubSpot's built-in cookie banner may not provide. Additionally, if you are currently using the Cookiebot integration, please note that you won’t be able to use HubSpot's cookie policies simultaneously.
HubSpot’s cookie consent banner cannot track all cookies. It can block some HubSpot cookies, but not all of them. Necessary cookies, for example, will still be dropped regardless of the cookie banner settings. The banner can also block cookies from integrations like Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager, but only if those integrations are used through HubSpot. However, HubSpot cannot automatically block cookies from scripts you manually place on the page, which may be a limitation if you're using custom code.

I know it's been a few months, but you can look into other cookie banner solutions that work with Hubspot too. As you scale and grow your website, and with new legislations being passed in the US and around the globe, you will need a more robust solution to respect your users consent everywhere, called consent management platform (CMP). You can start with free CMP solutions first too that work great for wordpress . Hope this helps!

I switched to HubSpot's cookie banner too. It works well for HubSpot-specific cookies but doesn’t track all cookies like One Trust or Cookiebot. If you need more control over cookie categorization or advanced features, you may need to use it alongside another tool. It’s worth trying if you're looking to save costs and manage it within HubSpot, but it's not a complete replacement for more specialized services.
The HubSpot cookie banner can manage cookie consent for your website visitors, but it may not offer all the functionalities of third-party services like One Trust or Cookie bot, which often provide more extensive compliance tools and integrations for more information on this kindly go through this article here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/privacy-and-consent/use-cookie-management-tools-in-hubspot
