Is it possible to capture a customers language preference on the manage preferences page?

On our marketing preferences page and contact form pages, is it possible to add an option (preferably drop-down menu) for prospective/active customers to select the language they want to receive communication in?
This will help understand and target our audiences better as we'll have captured their language preferences to serve curated content to them. Currently, we don't have any visibility of our customer's language preferences and ideally, we would like to capture this information?
For example, we send a monthly newsletter to our customers in Europe, North America, and China but the content is in the English language.
If anyone can provide any insight, it would be greatly appreciated.
