Insert Subscription Confirmation Link - not working, custom solutions welcome

Hey, has anyone managed to get this subscription confirmation button enabled in their account for emails?

We've been struggling with this for days now, seems like no one can turn a switch or provide some custom hubl syntax for it. Linking direct to /doi-default-confirmation or {{ subscription_confirmation_url }} doesn't work.  And yes, I've toggled the gdpr setting button on and off multiple times. Also not being able to sort contacts through new email subscriptions (as it's not a contact property anymore) is just insane  cheers!

Anyway, if anyone has a hack or something for this, would love to look into it as this is super urgent and already late.

We actually finally got this to work, although the suggested method had some errors with inputting extra %20 markup, but all good!
