I am working on an e-commerce website and have a small query regarding GDPR. If a customer uses the website, places an item in the card, goes to the order checkout page, and after enetering the email address, decides to abort the transaction. In this case, is it possible for us to send that user an email saying that "You have left an item in your cart". Please do remember that the user does not have an account with the website but the email address was collected when user entered the email address but aborted the transaction.
Case II: A user is logged in to the website, and after entering an item to the cart, leaves the item in the cart and logs off. In this case, is it GDPR compliant if we email that user saying that "You have items left in your cart".

Q: Is our email GDPR-compliant if we send an 'abandoned cart' email whether or not the recipient is a registered user of our store?
Short A: Depends on how you collected the recipients data and the contents of the email @anuj.
Longer A:

Generally speaking, if we present proper GDPR-compliant data collection notification(s) to the recipient at the time of collection (see What information must be given to individuals whose data is collected?) AND the recipient has explicitly opted to receive promotional email AND we only send them email around the original 'stated purpose for collection' at the time of collection (e.g., promotional email, monthly newsletter, etc.), we should be ok.
That being said, it's always good to see how other successful HubSpot ecommerce integration partners are handling GDPR compliance and to seek legal counsel of your own.
