Bulk Unsubscribe from Edit Communication Subscriptions Problem

Hello community, 

 

I am having an issue. I am trying to bulk opt-out manually contacts from all subscription types and update the default field "Unsubscribed from all email" so it's synced with SalesForce, but when I opt them out from Contacts > Select Contacts > More > Edit Communication subscription > Select all subscription types > Select Opt Out , contacts get unsubscribed from all subscription types, but the value in "Unsubscribed from all email" is not changing.

 

Still, when I go to each individual contact and select to opt him out from Actions > Opt Out from all email, this successfully changes the field "Unsubscribed from all email" to true, and all is good. But I can't find a way to bulk opt out contacts. 

 

Have anyone faced this issue? Or is there something I can do to fix that? 

 

I also tested with a workflow and the result is the same - just unsubscribed from all subscription types, but the field "Unsubscribed from all email" not changed". 

 

We need that because we are syncing with SalesForce and we want all data synced accordingly.

@AStoyanov Don't know a great deal about SalesForce or SalesLoft, but as an alternative suggestion. 
Can you syncronise lists between the systems? If you can, you could create an exclusion list in Hubspot and a corresponding list in the other systems.

Then you can eather bulk assign contacts to 'Static' lists or use filters to add contacts to an 'Active' list (eg all contacts who are opted out of x,y,z)

Could you then us thease lists to update workflows on the saleforce side, or exclude the contacts when sending emails?

Can we assume that your sync on that field is setup to be two-way so that Salesforce accepts the updated value?

 

Next - opting out of individual subscriptions, even if you select them all, will not select the unsubscribed from all email function as that property is not linked. But it will block that contact from sending to any current or future subscription types that you may create.

Hey Ben, 

 

so yes, the field is synced two-way as it comes from the default SalesForce integration and the sync can't be edited.

 

About the opting out of individual contact, when I select Opt Out from the Actions drop down it successfully changes the value of "Unsubscribed from all email" to true, but that's available only when editing individual contact and not available for bulk.

 

The main reason we need that is because in some cases sales are sending emails from salesforce, one to one or some cadancies triggers from SalesLoft and from time to time we receive requests from sales to unsubscribe some sets of contacts, but want all synced properly so no one can email contacts from SalesForce or SalesLoft.

Absolutely understand the use case.  Just trying to help figure out why it wouldn't be syncing.  Can you confirm there are no sync errors in the app integration that is preventing the data from syncing?  Also, if you haven't already, I would recommend opening a ticket with Hubspot so they can help look into this from a technical perspective.  As a user-to-user community we can offer advice to help guide you in the right direction for common issues, but sometimes Hubspot will need to jump in to look into the issues.

Thanks again Ben, but the problem is not the sync. The field is syncing, but I can't bulk change the field to let's say 100 contacts at all. When I go to the contact record and set the contact to Opt Out, the field changes and it syncs properly, but there is no bulk option that changes that field...

Yes, same thing - it just unsubscribes from all subscription types, but it doesn't affect the "Unsubscribed from all email" field.
