In a manufacturing B2B company we segmented based on application (what kind of process), Activity (the accounts place in the flow) and final industry (the customers customer). In addition brand and contact level segmentation was done to create a customer profile (rough persona). This allowed more targeted messages to be sent that was more relevant for specific customer groups, for instance operators, or buyers, in the specific industry.

We had a lead generation campaign targeting Senior Executives from organizations where thier employees (any designation) attended an event and participated in a session with a dedicated topic.

With such granular segmentation, we had to define the list with 4 filters - Job Title, Country, If Company exists in XYZ campaign and company annual revenue.

With these filters, we were able to segment the static list to launch a VIP exclusive dinner event hosted in three states and our targeted involved executives with decision making capablities to attend as we discussed some post follow up items from the session that sparked thier interest at the event.

This was very well received and we had a very qualified sales ready list that could be translated into revenue in a matter of months.
