What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?
Although I have not created any emails myself, the company I work for sends out tailored emails to customers based on their transaction history from their loyalty account. This has led to customer retention and increased sales.
What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?
I’ve worked primarily in marketing and CRM, focusing on customer engagement through targeted email campaigns. My experience spans retail and service-based industries, where segmentation is crucial in maximising engagement, conversion rates, and customer retention.
Segments That Led to Greater Engagement 1️⃣ Behaviour-Based Segmentation:
Example: For an e-commerce brand, I segmented customers based on browsing behaviour, e.g., users who viewed a product but didn’t purchase. A follow-up email with a personalised discount or customer reviews on that product led to a 20% increase in conversions. 2️⃣ Lifecycle & Retention-Based Segmentation:
Example: I created "Win-Back" segments for inactive customers (90+ days without engagement). A reactivation campaign featuring exclusive discounts and personalised recommendations improved open rates by 35% and re-engagement by 15%. 3️⃣ Purchase Frequency & Value-Based Segmentation:
Example: For high-value customers (VIPs), I crafted an exclusive loyalty campaign with early access to new products. Engagement rates were 2x higher than standard promotional emails, and the average order value increased by 25%. 4️⃣ Demographic & Geographic Segmentation:
Example: I personalised email content for a multinational retailer based on region-specific holidays and local trends. This resulted in a 30% higher click-through rate compared to generic global campaigns. 5️⃣ Engagement Level Segmentation (Hot, Warm, Cold Leads):
Example: I categorised users based on their past email interactions. Highly engaged users (Hot) received sneak peeks and exclusive offers, while low-engagement users (Cold) received soft-touch campaigns with educational content. This boosted overall email engagement by 18%.
Key Takeaways:
✅ Personalised, behaviour-driven segments consistently lead to better engagement. ✅ Lifecycle-based campaigns (e.g., welcome series, win-back, VIP rewards) drive customer retention. ✅ Testing and refining segments based on analytics is crucial for continued success.

I currently work in the real estate and finance industries. We provide intermediate-term loans for customers investing in real estate projects. We are in the process of segmenting prospects by loan type. The loan most appropriate for a given customer depends on the project. For example, a prospect looking to purchase, renovate, and sell a property would be most interested in a "fix and flip" loan that allows for draws as needed to complete tasks per their renovation strategy. Someone looking for funding between the final renovations and sell date might need a bridge loan with a different duration and flexibility to draw funds. Requesting a project type allows us to send the most relevant information information to each prospect.

If they did click, I sent an invitation to request a sample of the product; if they did not click, I sent them more general professional development content (e.g. blog posts relevant to the webinar topic).
