I never actually segmented, but in the back of my mind I felt my generic messaging was wrong since my CTA clicks were very low despite the fact that I had very high open rates of 40-50% (which I attribute to a somewhat exclusive contact list.).......I can't wait to start segmentation.

What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?

I've been too focused on my small business's other roles and tasks this far to think about proper marketing. Now with some solid systems in place for my operations and more time on my hands to grow the business, I'm finally cleaning up my marketing mess.

We have 1600 newsletter contacts, and I have never had a contact management system in place.  I'm planning an "operation clean up" campaign, asking my contacts to fill out a form that will us help provide them with info more relevant to their journey with us. I have a music lesson business, so some of my segment ideas are:

  • Leads
  • Current Active Students and Parents
  • Former Students and Parents
  • Fans of the School (not enrolled but love seeing our student bands perform around town)
  • Summer and Camps (only interested in summer and special camp events)

Any suggestions from the peanut gallery are welcome.

What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?

I work with a Telecommunication brand that sells mobile data and the Email segments I created include;

1. New users of the Telecommunication app: The reason for this is to build a familiarity with them and be in their faces so they can constantly remember us whenever they think of data

2. Old users that stopped using the app at some point: This is to re-engage them and get to receive their feedback on why they stopped using the app so we could fix the issue.

3. Old users who still frequently use the app: The E-mails are usually in appreciation form and updates on new data deals and discounts.

Effective segments for better engagement include:

1. Cart Abandoners: Remind users to complete purchases.

2. Recent Purchasers: Offer follow-ups or related products.

3. Engaged Subscribers: Reward frequent openers/clickers.

4. Interest-Based: Personalize based on content preferences.

5. Demographics: Target by age, gender, or location.

I am new to my company in the manufacturing industry and will be supporting the integration of email marketing strategies to align with our sales team in 2025. As a team, we are currently working on tidying up our CRM and segment our customers into their industries. In time, we may then break those industries down into sub-industries. I think it would also be beneficial to re-target customers who have brought from us, to maintain the relationship. We know our customers want to buy from us, so we need to make sure we are engaging with them and delivering beneficial information and updates to their inboxes.

We are using geographical and fictional segmentation to engage with prospects timeboxed close to events.

In my company, we sell skincare products. To make our emails more interesting, we made different groups of people. For example:

~New customers: People who just bought something for the first time. We send them welcome emails.

~Loyal customers: People who buy often. We send them special offers or thank-you emails.

~People who didn’t buy for a long time: We send them emails with discounts to bring them back.

~Based on age or skin type: We send emails with tips or products that match their needs.

Excellent. Since you have a rarified community, you can take advantage of
a wide variety of opportunities to interact with your audiences—each with
their preferred medium.
Working cooperatively, each audience will want to share, promote, and
inspire others to join in and grow your institution’s success.

What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?

At SRISIIM Educational Institute, email segmentation is essential to effectively connect with our diverse audience, which includes prospective students, current students, alumni, parents, and industry professionals. As a premier institution specializing in management and holistic education, segmentation ensures our communication is personalized and impactful.

Segmentation Strategy:

1. Prospective Students: Segmented by program interest (e.g., management, marketing). Emails focus on program highlights, admission deadlines, and career prospects.

2. Current Students: Segmented by course or year of study. Campaigns include academic updates, event invitations, and skill-development workshops.

3. Alumni: Segmented by graduation year and industry. Content covers alumni success stories, networking opportunities, and professional development.

4. Parents: Segmented by their child’s enrolled program. Emails focus on institutional updates, milestones, and achievements.

5. Corporate Professionals: Segmented by sector or past engagement with SRISIIM. Campaigns highlight partnership opportunities and industry events.

6. Behavioral Segmentation: Based on email interactions and website activity to send reminders or tailored follow-ups.

This strategy has significantly boosted engagement by delivering relevant content to each audience segment, fostering deeper connections, and driving increased participation in our programs and events.

What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?

I'm new to the industry of homecare services. Our company's niche is providing offshore support for onshore schedulers, who are in charge of admin tasks and dispatching caregivers to the clients. I want to ask what kind of segmentation can you recommend.

What segments have you created that have led to greater engagement?

I'm new to the homecare services industry, and I'm excited to be a part of this dynamic and rewarding field. Our company specializes in providing offshore support for onshore schedulers, who handle administrative tasks and dispatch caregivers to clients. I'm reaching out to the community for some valuable insights and advice on market segmentation.

What Kind of Segmentation Can You Recommend?

  1. Demographic Segmentation:

    • Age: Different age groups (e.g., young families, middle-aged adults, seniors) may have varying needs and preferences for homecare services.
    • Family Structure: Single parents, couples, families with children, or empty nesters might require different types of support.
    • Income Level: Higher-income households might be more willing to pay for premium services, while lower-income households might need more affordable options.
  2. Geographic Segmentation:

    • Urban vs. Rural: Urban areas might have more demand for quick and flexible services, while rural areas might need more consistent and long-term support.
    • Regional Differences: Different regions might have unique cultural or regulatory requirements that affect homecare services.
  3. Behavioral Segmentation:

    • Usage Rate: Frequent users vs. occasional users. Some clients might need daily support, while others might only require occasional assistance.
    • Loyalty: Long-term clients vs. new clients. Understanding the needs and preferences of both groups can help tailor your services effectively.
    • Benefit Sought: Clients might be looking for convenience, reliability, cost-effectiveness, or specialized care (e.g., post-surgery care, dementia care).
  4. Psychographic Segmentation:

    • Lifestyle: Active, health-conscious individuals might have different needs compared to those with more sedentary lifestyles.
    • Values and Attitudes: Clients who value independence might prefer services that promote self-care, while those who value comfort might prefer more hands-on care.
    • Personality: Some clients might be more tech-savvy and prefer digital tools for scheduling and communication, while others might prefer more traditional methods.
  5. Behavioral Segmentation:

    • Occasion: Different occasions might require different types of support (e.g., post-hospital discharge, long-term care, respite care).
    • Loyalty: Clients who have had positive experiences and are likely to refer your services to others.
    • User Status: New users vs. existing users. New users might need more onboarding and support, while existing users might benefit from loyalty programs and advanced services.

Why Segmentation Matters:

Segmentation helps us tailor our services to meet the specific needs of different client groups, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. It also allows us to allocate our resources more effectively and target our marketing efforts more precisely.

I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences on this topic. What segmentation strategies have you found to be most effective in the homecare services industry?

In the automobile industry we created segment for those who have submitted a lead in last 6 months but never bought a car. We retargetted these customers with emails focused on brand re-engagement
