A tip to better engage the audience is to keep your emails consistent with your brand. This will help users to better recognize your brand as they come across it more often.

The tip to better engage is a clear and identifiable brand item like the company logo at the top of the email to capture the contact's attention, personalization token in the opening and keeping the content clear and concise.

My number one tip is to make it where it's readable on all devices AND that it can stand alone without images.

Consistency is key in all great information design, and email is no exception. Branding is a big part of this, but so is how things are organised within the email. Make information predicatable in layout. This doesn't mean it has to be the same with every email, but it should mean that the user knows where to easily find the next piece of information without having to think about it.

THis can be done as simply as 'left-aligning' all of your text, or it could be a little fancier by creating a predicatable pattern of text placement, with a bit of suggestive colour use. If you always signal to the reader where to go next, it'll give the email flow, and therefore more likely to keep them engaged.

Understand the goal of the email. Keep it clear and simple, remembering to persist with the brand language to your audience. Remember, you don't need to cram everything you want to say into your email. Entice the reader to further engage with your other content areas such as website, social media, and blogs.
