What's the right frequency for sending emails?

In order to build trust and further engage your audience, you need to send the right information at the right time. Keeping this in mind, what's your recommendation on a successful frequency for sending marketing emails? Please elaborate as to why you recommend this in your response.

The right frequency to send emails starts from the basics.

 

how did you get this contacts email?

did the contact give you permission?

what opt in prompt did this contact sign up for?

was it daily, weekly or monthly emails?

 

Anything outside doing exactly what the contact gave you permission for can break trust and you will lose the contact.

What's the right frequency for sending emails?

If I offer to send daily, weekly, by-monthly or monthly emails, I must respect that frequency. And the subscriber must be aware of this regularity at the time of subscribing. Also, it is always good to leave a space for extraordinary mail.

The right frequency is the frequency that your customers agree to. Some customers want daily emails, some what weekly, others may want monthly. I wouldn't recommend daily unless it has a purpose, like merriam-webster's word of the day. I would also suggest that the least amount of weekly emails to effectively communicate your message is the best.

This answer is a little dificult to be given with precision. Depends on the business you should send emails day per day or once per month. Futhermore, it's really important to consider the expectations and the goals that a marketer puts.

Pending actual agreement to receive emails, I think it can vary depending on the type of email. For example, I think someone whose in the buying stage wants daily emails for my industry. For someone who is an uncontacted lead for example, I think the frequency must be changed depending on the product and interest type.

What's the right frequency for sending emails?

For me, there are a few approaches here. 
It depends on the business type, audience history and data.

1. History of the email list (collection of contacts)
- Did you communicate sending cadence to the audience? 
- Has a sending cadence already been established with the audience?
- Do you have a content strategy in play that taps into sending cadence?

3. Business Type
If you are a business that let's say does news, you will send at least once per day. 
If you are a mom and pop store who sells cupcakes you will perhaps send once per week. 
If you are a supermarket that runs specials every Saterday you will send every Friday. 
The business type and needs of the business plays a role in email cadence and frequency. 

4. Data
What does your data tell you. When do people open their emails, when do people act on their emails. 
Is there a difference in open rates when you send at different times. I would AB test this, but to be honest using AI or machine learning to determine a contacts probibality of engaging with an email is the best.

The right frequency is based on the expectation you set with the contact initially.  This would be once a week, once a month, or every other week.  

 

Also the right frequency TRULY depends on whether or not you received permission to send ANY emails.  if you did not receive consent, you are sendin the wrong frequency about your business.

Depends on the business and the frequency mentioned in CTA for opt-in.  For example, I may receive Amazon emails several times a day but not that many from a small business.  Depends on the value and relevancy of content.

Depending on what was presented to the user and if they were given a option to choose the frequency is the approriate number of emails to receive in a given time span. If they opted in for special promotions or deals, these could be frequent or infrequent and occur a couple times a month or every other month. If they opted in for a monthly or weekly recipe from a food blog then the frequency should follow as to what was initally stated. The amount of emails being sent out will be dependent on the business and what they are offering so it is important to become fluid with email marketing so you can do what's appropriate to serve each customer base as optimally as you can.

I believe the right frequency is the one you state when collecting the users' information and consent. There isn't a unique frequency everyone is compelled to abide by. As long as you are consistent with the pace of deliverability we can say that is the right frequency.

The right frequency for sending emails depends on the type of our business and type of contacts and having their consent for delivering the emails to them like once a week( particular day of the week) or monthly and others.  Following the golden rule 'to the right contact, with the right content, on the right time'.
