At my university marketing role, I ran an A/B test for a scholarship email campaign. Version A was a serious, text-heavy email with clear details. Version B had a quirky student-made video sharing personal stories. I expected Version A to win, but Version B surprised me with a 35% higher click-through rate and 20% more applications. I have tried out 2 versions with CTA. First version contained plain text followed by hero image & CTA and the second version contained hero image then some text & then the CTA. I have used the same web optimized image for both copies.
Test resulted more (nearly double) CTR in the second version where the text placed after the image.
