"Sales Document" embedded in Email

Today, we sent an email containing a specific document to a select List of contacts. The document was attached as a file download to a button in the email. 

Obviously, we can get some metrics about which contacts clicked the button, downloading /viewing the PDF file which was hosted on Hubspot. BUT, what I was hoping for was a way to get analytics about engagement with the document in the same way I can if I linked it as a "Sales Document" in one to one email.

Can a marketing email not embed a sales document currently? Or perhaps I am missing something or not at the feature tier where this is possible.

Unfortunately, no such luck @kdanaher. File engagement statistics are available for HubSpot hosted files made available via Sales Hub Documents, but not for HubSpot hosted files made available via the Marketing Hub. (any tier)

The HubSpot Marketing best practice is to provide HubSpot-hosted PDF page visibility within HubSpot hosted webpages (or a landing page) with an offer to download the PDF as a option (either gated or ungated). At the very least, HubSpot-hosted PDF pages should be delivered via non-HubSpot pages on which the HubSpot tracking code has been installed.

This will yield clear engagement stats per PAGE within HubSpot, and permit integrations like Hotjar to offer deeper insight into visitor behavior at scale.

Different tool-set used to obtain similar data.
