is it possible Adding Emails to an Ongoing Workflow?

SOLVE

I am creating a workflow with 9 different flows, each containing 8 drip emails sent at a one-week interval, making it an 8-week plan. This results in a total of 72 emails across all flows.

To get started, we plan to launch the workflow with the first 3 emails, covering the initial 3 weeks. Can we then add the remaining 5 emails (in batches of 5) to the running workflow after a week? Or would we need to duplicate and create a new workflow for the next set of emails?

Hi @PMishra16,

The important concept to understand here is enrollment: as long as a record is still within a workflow and as long as they still have actions ahead of them, you can still change what's coming after. If a contact however has already completed the workflow, they've left it and any changes will not apply to these contacts anymore.

Specifically, for you, that means that you could simply add the planned delays already, it could look like this:

  1. Enrollment
  2. Email 1
  3. Delay for 1 week
  4. Email 2
  5. Delay for 1 week
  6. Email 3
  7. Delay for 1 week
  8. Delay for 1 week
  9. Delay for 1 week
  10. Delay for 1 week
  11. Delay for 1 week
  12. Delay for 1 week

Once you have email 4 ready, you would place it after step 7, once you have email 5 ready, you would place it after step 8. You would simply have to make sure that you add the emails in time. If the contact has passed on to the next delay already, they won't experience what you added before.

Hi Karsten,

Could you instead do a delay 50 days to give you time to complete the upcoming email, and then reduce the delay time to send out once it's ready?
