SOLVE

Hello,

I have a newsletter i'm sending weekly with hubspot and I would like to create a rudimentary re ferral program. I have a startup I would rather not have to pay for an affiliate software.

I'm thinking super basic, So I need

- Unique ID for the person making a re ferral

- a way to record that a new user came from that re ferral

- a way to count how many re ferral (new email sign-up) a person generated

For each user, I was thinking using their Record ID as their unique identifier. I would add it to the email as a personalized token. I will create a landing page with a form that would record the Record ID as a hidden field on the form.

The question, is how can I create a custom field that track how many re ferrals a person made?

Any idea?

Sorry, no. I mean a custom report in HubSpot.

Here is a video walking through how I built the one I included in the screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Gt112eSgQBSDedXYnqpvi7npqZnKWr3E/view?usp=sharing

As you know, the challenge here is that the re ferral Code (I am assuming this will be a new custom property on a form) will live on the new, referred contact's record, not the person who made the re ferral.

One quick way to track this could be create a new table or pivot report to could the number of contacts by re ferral code, but you would have to manually transfer that data/knowledge to the person who made the re ferral.

Alternatively, you can use Contact-Contact associatations which would probably get you closer to what you are invisioning.

Out of the box, I can't think of a way to associate these contacts automatically (In theory you could do this manually using the report I outlined above and then manually going into the records to associate them).

There are also apps on the marketplace that could automatically set these associations I believe (Although I have never personally used them for this use case):

Hey Casey, just to make sure I follow. when you say "new table or pivot report", you mean doing an extraction of all data and then doing a pivot table on Excel?

thanks for sharing the app. I will look into those
