Workflow enrolment based upon number of Deals

SOLVE

Hi there,

I am looking to send an email via an automated workflow when a Deal is Closed Won, however... i only want this email to be sent upon closing of the first Deal, not subsequent Deals.

Is my enrollment trigger set up correctly:

Have I misunderstood the 'Is Closed Won (numeric)' property? I read that to mean "If the Contact has 1 Closed Won Deal".

If I am incorrect I'd be really grateful for an explanation of how to achieve my goal.

Thank you in Advance...

Hi @AGolding,

"Is closed won (numeric)" is binary (0 meaning the deal is not won, 1 meaning the deal is won), it's not a counter.

When you say "first deal", are you referring to the first deal won for that contact?

If so, here's what you'd have to do:

  1. Create a calculation property on the contact object that counts how many associated won deals the contact has: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/properties/create-calculation-properties

  2. Use that new calculation property in your enrollment criteria

Have a look at the documentation and let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Hi Karsten. Apologies for the delay in responding to you.

So - when I follow your steps I do not even get the option appear for 'Choose Association Labels'. This is your version:

This is my version:

Am I doing something wrong?

Andy

@AGolding have you set up any association labels? If you haven't, that could explain why you're not seeing that option.

You had created the property yesterday already, is it not working? Have you checked for a few records if it calculates correctly? If so, I don't see any reason for further investigation.

Hello Karsten, thank you for a prompt reply!

Correct - I want to send an automated email when and only when a first deal is won for a Contact. Nothing to be sent for subsequent deals.

So would the following calculation property be correct:

And then when I include this calculation property in the enrollment criteria I would set the condition to 'equals 1'?

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Best,

Andy

@AGolding correct 🙂 – after checking whether the calculation property works as expected by looking it up on a few contacts.
