Using email for internal comms

Has anyone successfully managed to use HubSpot as an email tool to send widespread internal communications to staff? If so, can you share best practices and how you were able to distinguish internal stats (opens, clicks) from external marketing email stats?

@BMelville I haven't implemented a solution for internal communications within HubSpot for this exact reason - it's hard to separate the stats. One option you could explore would be to create an internal Business Unit, but that would change the pricing of your plan, and it would also likely require joining a new beta for how emails are handled with business units to fully separate them.

There are so many good internal communication tools out there, I typically recommend one of those as an alternative because that's what they're designed to do and it's not what HubSpot email is built to support.

Due to the fact that Hubspot is built for external communications it's not really ideal for sending internal emails or updates as employees have the option to unsubscribe. ContactMonkey is a great alernative if you're looking for a software built specifically for sending internal emails.

Thank you, this is very helpful and along the lines of what I was thinking. Are there other tools you would recommend for internal email communications?

you're welcome @BMelville there are so many options now, it really depends on what type of communications you're doing, your goals, etc. and what your existing tools are (some integrate with Slack or Teams).

You could start on G2 or another software review site to find an aggregated list to help you narrow it down (I googled best internal company email tools and found a bunch of good recommendations).
