we want to use smart rules in the opt-in email. In the preview it works without problems - in real unfortunately not. What could be the reason for this? Do the smart rules in the Hubspot opt-in email work for you?
The issue here is very likely that the active list is slower than the email send. The double opt-in email is sent immediately, while the list is still trying to find the contacts who should be in the list.
Since you have smart content, you should also have contact-based workflows at your disposal. There is a way to set up a so-called hybrid double opt-in in HubSpot which workflows multilingually and also offers options for better reporting.
It would go beyond the constraints of a community post but I'll happily give you an overview if you book time via the calendar in my signature. Alternatively, you can send me a direct message for aligning on a meeting time and date.

I’m referring to the system default double opt-in email. We need a bilingual doi-mail for two businesses – so I added 4 Smart Rules based on contact-lists.
The filters of the contact lists are a self defined contact property. The contact property is included as hidden field in our forms.
>> Contact Property as hidden Field in form> List with Filter "contact property" > Opt-In-Mail with Smart Rules which are based on Lists with contact property
Setup: I’ve got 3 sections in my Opt-In-Mail (Text, Button, Text) and these are my Smart Rules.
For each Smart Rule ist special Content for each section:
DOI | Business A | DE --> Content A in all 3 sections
DOI | Business A | EN --> Content B in all 3 sections
DOI | Business B | DE --> Content C in all 3 sections
DOI | Business B | EN --> Content D in all 3 sections

Could you elaborate more on how exactl you set up the smart rules and what exactly is not working? What are you expecting to happen and what is actually happening?
Are you referring to the system default double opt-in email or a custom set up double opt-in email? Are you using the subscription confirmation link or something else?
