I'm working on a campaign where I'd like to use a very specific personalization. I'm sending it to marketing leaders in my target companies and would like to personalize the body of the email using the name of the sales counterpart in the same company.
Any idea how this could be achieved?
I'm assuming it'd involve setting up some custom properties on a marketing contact and copying sales person first and last name there, but I'm struggling how to setup a workflow that would do that.
This is possible and not necessarily super-complex. You would need a workflow that copies the name of the sales counterpart into a field on the company object. You could then use this company field as a personalization token in your email to the marketing leader 🙂
For that workflow, you would need to either define an association label or mark the contact that is the sales counterpart in some way or another.
Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

My question is, though, if I do it with an association label or mark the contact - do I need to do them one by one in my database? Imagine I have 200 accounts or more.
Alternatively, I could create a workflow that would copy the name of a person in the same account with a "Sales VP" function, but in this case I need those to be aligned.
Won't be possible without human intervention I guess 😀
What I am trying to do, however, is to personalize the email with the name of the sales counterpart of the marketing director that I'm writing the email to.
ie. There is John (Marketing Director) working with Marie (Sales Director) for the same company.
I want to include the following personalization in my email.
Hey {First name of marketing director = John},
How would you rate your alignment with {Name of the sales director = Marie}
(the copy will be more elegant but this is just an example to illustrate what I mean).
My goal is to run this email at scale, therefore need the name of the sales director become a company property I guess.
