Can non-marketing contacts be included in a workflow, such as an abandoned cart one? Or do they need to be marked as marketing contacts to be added to the workflow?
Workflow enrolment itself does not require marketing contact status, no. If that workflow sends automated emails, these emails require marketing status however and attempted sends will fail without it.
