Why can't I select multiple subscription types when I make an eDM to send to my contacts? Is there a way to do this without cloning the eDM and resending it with the 2nd subscription type selected? What if it's and email that's relevant to 2 different subscription types, and I want people who have subbed/preferenced either to receive it?
Recipients are primarly determined by the lists you add in the Send or schedule tab, not by the subscription type you choose. The subscription type you choose is 'only' referenced by HubSpot to check if contacts have opted out and should be suppressed, or (if you have 'Legal basis required' enabled in the GDPR settings) to verify that contacts have an opt-in for the subscription type.
If you have 'Legal basis required' enabled in the GDPR settings, and assuming that your contacts have either an opt-in for subscription type 1 or 2 but not both, then correct, you would have to set up two separate marketing emails. The list that is opted into type 1 would receive the marketing email with the corresponding subscription type 1 and the same for the list that is opted into type 2 who would receive a marketing email where type 2 is the selected subscription type.
There is no way to select two subscription types in the settings tab of the email editor and have HubSpot dynamically reference one of the two types. An email can only have one subscription type.
If your contacts are opted into both subscription types or if you do not have the 'Legal basis required' setting enabled, then you can simply add lists of both contact groups in the 'Send or schedule' tab. That would work from a purely technical standpoint.
