Managing Email Subscription Types

How does one delete a subscription type or set one as default? I can't seem to manage subscriptions through Settings in that way.

I know there must be an easy answer but I have been looking everywhere for over an hour and can't figure it out. Thanks.

Hi @thewagneragency

You control subscription types through Settings->Marketing->Email->Subscription Types (Tab). You can't delete a subscription type, you can just mark it as inactive. You do by hovering over a subscription, clicking edit, unchecking the active checkbox for your subscription type, and then clicking finish.

You can drag and drop subscription types on the subscription type settings screen to manage the order they are shown on your subscription preferences page but there isn't really a way to set a default subscription type unless you just have one active subscription type. You control which subscription types your contacts can opt into via the subscription fields you present in your opt-in forms.

Hi @thewagneragency

Just to add to what @MatthewShepherd  has said, you also need to be on Marketing Hub Starter or higher to have access to subscription types - Marketing Hub Free doesn't let you create or change them.

Hope this helps.

Hi!

Is it correct that nowadays the inactive check box no longer exists and there's only an option to archive a subscription type? At least I don´t see other option. I plan on getting rid of some, types and was wondering if setting a workflow to change the subscription type from old the new is enought, and once the workflow is on, the old subscription type can be archived?

Hi @SKaukonen

Yes, subscription types no longer display the inactive checkbox described above. You now archive a subscription type by selecting Archive from the actions menu that appears when hovering over your subscription type. Once you have done that the subscription type will show a status of inactive on your Subscription Types setting page, and will be filtered from your Subscription Types view if you filter the page to only see Active Subscription Types.

You can use a workflow to update the opt-in status of subscription-based on another subscription status (if you have GDPR features enabled you will also need to provide lawful basis for communication information too.)

Once all of your opt-ins are copied over and you have updated any other tools which are relying on your subscription types e.g. check if you have any lists or workflows referencing the old subscription type, it should be OK to archive the old subscription type.  However, if you need to, you can always unarchive a subscription type too.

Is there a way that putting back to not opt in bulk?

We had accidentially optin almost every one via workflow and it cant be reverted in any ways. We just want to put those people who has passed thru that workflow and convert the opted in person to not opt?
