I am attempting to email a list of contacts with a unique URL for each recipient so that they may access a ballot to participate in an election my organization is hosting. The URLs are created by our election vendor and I am wondering if there is a way to automate the process of generating an email for each election participant and their unique URL and then sending those emails out to all participants? In other applications I know this would be considered a mail merge, but we were hoping to leverage Hubspot because it provides details on opens, unsubscribes, bounces etc. that would be valuable to us to ensure maximum participation in our election.
In HubSpot, these kinds of emails can be sent using personalization tokens. Before an email is sent, HubSpot will check for each recipient what these tokens correspond to. To do this, HubSpot looks up the property value for this personalization token, e.g. the value "Karsten" for the property / personalization token First name.
They same method can be applied for any other property. You can create a custom single-line text contact property called Election URL. To fill this new field, you need to import a file that has two columsn: one column containing all contact email addresses, one column containing the Election URL. By importing, HubSpot will store the Election URL in each contact.
If you know place a personalization token for Election URL in your email (find the Personalize button in the email editor menu), HubSpot will display the URL that was in the same row as the email address in your import file.

This is very helpful, thank you! One follow up question, is there a way to attach this token to an image such as a "Vote Now" button, or similar to avoid having a clunky URL in the body of the email?
