List count and projected send count don't match

I am sending an email announcement to a list which has 28,810 people in it. But the email is saying that the Total Recipients number is 30, 640. See attached screenshot.

I know I preferred English to Maths at school but I think there is something I am missing.

 

Can anyone tell me why these numbers are different please?

Was the list recently updated? Can you try refreshing?  If not, I would contact support.

It was created just before I picked it in the 'send to' field. Now the count for the email is showing as 28,777.

@TimothySands I just had this issue and found this question while searching. This question is three years old but I'll answer anyway:

Apparently, it just takes HubSpot some time to update with new lists. I gave it a few minutes and eventually, the numbers came much closer to matching - and the final send closely matched my list.

If you've checked the subscription types match and have "Don't send to unengaged contacts" turned off, then most likely your list just needs time to populate internally.
