Q: Is there a way to remove those from a mailing list who haven't opened emails from me?

Short A: Totally. HubSpot even has a name for it -- i.e., Unengaged Contacts!

- see What is graymail and how can I avoid sending email to unengaged contacts?

Longer A:

n/a

Note: The date of each post here is increasingly important as HubSpot evolves to be the #1 CRM platform of choice world-wide.

Hope that helps.

hmm. I'm using the free version of Hubspot so 'Marketing / Email' is locked.

Any ideas on how else I can avoid greymail?

Can I do a manual search perhaps for 'unengaged contacts'? I can't see this as an option under Contact / Filters.

Cheers, Oliver

Completely different matter. You posted in the Marketing->Email Marketing section. Next time you'll want to post in the CRM & Sales Hub section.

No.

Sure ... try these filter settings.

These settings will not catch everything, but will give you a good starting point from which to evolve your strategy.

Got it, the manual way is: "recent Sales Email Open Date" = "Unknown"?, then to add a property to those emails like 'graymail = yes'.

Ok, no.

No need to 'manually' add anything to anything. The filters shown will display all contacts to whom you've sent email (tracked by HubSpot), but for whom NO RECENT SALES EMAIL OPEN DATE has been triggered (in HubSpot). Attempting to do this manually is a complete waste of time.

That being said, email open rates in general are an unreliable indicator of engagement. This technological limitation is not unique to HubSpot.

- see How does HubSpot calculate email opens?

Click Through Rates (CTRs) and Reply Rates are much better indicators.

Good luck on your project.

The challenge is that Hubspot defines "Unengaged" as those who have not opened the last 11 emails. I'm trying to determine the list of people who have never opened a single email.

Creating the filters mentioned reduces my list by 94%, which is not accurate.

Any other ideas?
