HubSpot equivalent to Salesforce Journey Builder?

SOLVE

Hi! I used to use Salesforce Marketing Cloud in a previous position and am now learning to use HubSpot for a current position. I remember really liking Salesforce Marketing Cloud JourneyBuilder, where I could create a series of automated emails with time delays between sends and contacts would leave the journey with certain criteria.

Is there some sort of HubSpot equivalent? I can see that Sequences and Workflows are both similar concepts. Can I use Marketing Emails in Workflows or Sequences? I have designed the emails with graphics and want to somehow automate their send. Can someone please give a step-by-step explanation?

HubSpot equivalent to Salesforce Journey Builder?

SOLVE

Hey @alexagatiss, thanks for reaching out, and welcome to HubSpot! This is an awesome question.

Yes — HubSpot workflows on the marketing side and sequences on the sales side are the equivalents (and then some) here! HubSpot workflows can be triggered by pretty much any tracked action in HubSpot, after which you can automate emails, time delays, branching logic, removal from the workflow when specific criteria are set, you name it!

Here are a bunch of awesome HubSpot resources to get you started:

  1. Create Workflows HubSpot Knowledge Base article
  2. Choose your workflow actions HubSpot Knowledge Base article
  3. Understanding Workflows HubSpot Academy course (this is just one part of the Marketing Software certification course, which I highly recommend checking out! It covers all of the core tools at your disposal, like emails, landing pages, forms, workflows, and more!)

If you already have emails created in HubSpot, you'll just want to be sure that you have them saved as automated emails, not regular emails. From there, you will:

  1. Set your contact workflow enrollment trigger
  2. Add the email send, delays, branching logic, and internal notification/update steps as needed
  3. Set the workflow goal
  4. Set workflow settings (runtimes, campaign, suppression lists)
  5. Review the workflow and ensure that the number of eligible contacts looks right
  6. Activate the workflow and monitor its performance and enrollment in the performance tab

Workflows can be as simple or as complex as you want them to be, so hopefully this helps get you started! If you have any questions as you're getting going, don't hesitate to reach back out. The Community loves to answer workflow questions! Thanks!
