Can anyone advise on using HubL for email design? I am still fairly new to HubSpot, but it was mentioned to me that HubL is what we should use for custom email content blocks.
However, it seems like HubL has limited applications for email design and that's it's more a tool for HubSpot's CMS.
Other than the programmable emails beta, I am having a difficult time finding more information on how it can be used for email though - so any suggestions, recommended reading, etc are all very helpful.
For emails, the drag-and-drop editor you can probably get to 80-90% of where you want to be with emails visually. It may just take some time to get used to and figure out all the settings on the modules / sections / layouts.
That didn't use to be the case and some time ago HubL was the way to build custom modules that allowed the editor to control whatever you deemed necessary - content, spacing, sizing, colors, layout, etc.
There are still a couple different use cases for HubL today, including:
1) Programmable emails: pull in data from HubDB or the CRM (i.e. custom objects) as well as apply some logic to that data
2) You need a very specific looking section / module that is not achievable through drag-and-drop
3) Build custom email templates / modules to "lock in" the editing experience with custom boundaries so that editors don't go overboard and create some wild looking emails (possible to do with drag-and-drop)
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the welcome, the response, and the links.
I should add one more question - what are the benefits vs drawbacks to using HubL over the drag-and-drop editor - other than the joy of coding from scratch and creating highly custom content blocks?
