Email has not been sent to the contact - Filter in lists

SOLVE

Hello,

I would like to include in a list contacts that haven't received a specific marketing email. Seems it's not possible right now in a "straight" way.

I know a workaround but that's not easy to use.
(create a list with contacts to which email has been sent + create other list excluding this first list).

Hi @HSvrn,

Are you referring to any contact in your portal which hasn't received that email or just to the contacts who were meant to receive the email but didn't?

If it's the former, then you're correct, this filter does not exist and your workaround is currently the best option. If you want to request a better solution from the HubSpot product team, you could do so by submitting a post in the HubSpot Ideas section of the community: https://community.hubspot.com/t5/HubSpot-Ideas/idb-p/HubSpot_Ideas

If it's the latter, you can navigate to your email in HubSpot, click into the Recipients tab and Not sent. Via List actions, you can create a list directly.

Hi @HSvrn

I see what you mean. Simply put the reason why it's not easy to have a list of people who haven't received an email is that HubSpot doesn't tag all contacts that don't receive an email but rather records associated email activities of those that have been sent a particular email.

Is this the fact they have received the previous email the only criteria or are there others?

The approach you mentioned is the right one. Create a list of those who received the previous email.

You can the use them in the "do not send" as exclusion, so everyone but those contacts will get the email.

I hope that helps.
