When we create emails to send out for both automated and regular emails they often contain links to our website or application.
Experience shows that the person creating the email is not always pasting the correct link into the email. So when the mail is opened and the recipient clicks on one or more of the links it may give either a 404 for page not found or actually point to the wrong page.
Adding a 'check link' feature would enable us to catch most of these errors prior to sending out the email with faulty or wrong links.
I see it being part of 'Check...'
All links in the system are checked for a valid http response.
If possible then a mini embed of the target is shown as well. This would give a visual check by the user as well.
The check result can be shown as one line with 'ok, warning, error'. The user can exand the result and see which links give an error or warning. The mini image is shown as well.
Having this feature would minimize the risk of sending out an invalid or incorrect link.
Ideally the link widget in the text editor would do the check as soon as your click ok. Then it checks the link in the backgrund while you type on the next part of your email. If there is a problem the link is highed with an icon to show you that the link has a problem.
