Change to Available Metrics on Bot Exclusion

With the "excluding bots" metric change that's coming to marketing email reporting dashboard, I'm just hoping to get more information. Our company has been relying less on open rates, including the Adjusted Open Rate, but engagement is also hard to measure. Any change at all to the way the platform reports is welcome, as long as there is an explanation of what the change will be with enough time for me to report back to my team.

In particular, will this change filter out Inbox Virus Scans (Gmail, e.g.) as bot activity? Presumably, auto-responders will not be counted as bot activity?

For reference, I'm referring of course to this posting:

Adjusted open rate won't be available after August 16, 2024.

For this change, we will be releasing a new "excluding bots" metric to understand your open & click rates after we filter out all bot activity for recent emails.

Change to Available Metrics on Bot Exclusion

Good morning -

I'm familiar with Adjusted Open Rate and the way that things are calculated now. I am asking for more information on what the "Excluding Bots metric" will and will not include, and how it might alter the reporting, especially comparative reporting pre- and post-. In thorough searching of the boards and news announcements and reaching out to customer service, no one has been able to provide more information than what is available in this screen clip, which is visible in the email performance dashboard.

I would appreciate any additional information you can provide. Screenshot 2024-07-29 092714.png

Change to Available Metrics on Bot Exclusion

Hi @L---Bryce, I hope that you are well!

Thank you for reaching out to the Community!

Adjusted open rate is a feature that was put into place in response to privacy-protecting email client features such as Apple's Mail Privacy Protection, and is designed to calculate a more accurate open rate based on removal of "false" email open events.

This means that this feature will be removed on your email performance pages. This metric will be replaced by the 'Excluding Bots' metric which will be released soon; this should be included automatically in your email performance information when it's made available.

I'll also check for you internally to see if I can get more information!

I hope this helps!

Have a great day!

Best,
Bérangère

Change to Available Metrics on Bot Exclusion

Hi! How can we expect this to affect open rates? This looks like it's retroactive in accounts so more information on how this affects reporting is needed. Thanks!

Change to Available Metrics on Bot Exclusion

Thank you for asking @Amy  I have been asking on various threads and through the customer service chat and I keep getting the same canned answers about bots and adjusted open rate, with no specific details.

My main question is - is this new calculation inclusive of the inbox virus scans that have been (in the previous method) counting as opens?
