Bulk Email to All Contacts

We have been advised to send a bulk email to all contacts in our HS database to take a "pulse".  What should we be aware of prior to launch?

The HubSpot platform can't be used to clean your lists or check to see if contacts are still active. This list washing behavior can damage your brand's sender reputation, and degrades the HubSpot platform that all customer share. List washing is prohibited within HubSpot's Acceptable Use Policy, and could result in suspension of the marketing email tools. Healthly bounce rates should be below 1% and the HubSpot'a acceptable limit for bouces is 5%. 

To clean your lists for inactive contacts, we reccomend use of a validation platform like Kickbox. Please also ensure that your contacts also meet the minimum requirements for marketing email, including that contacts have personally opted into your brand and have been emailed by your brand in the past 12 months.

Thankfully our bounce rates have remained low.

If this is a list you haven't sent to in some time or it hasn't been cleaned, I would recommend doing some cleaning of the list in advance. 

• There are many list cleaners out there that will report back emails that are bouncing or invalid - they aren't 100% accurate, but it is a good starting point
• If you are coming from a previous email marketing tool, I would recommend running a bounce report from that tool so previously bounced emails are not coming over

A high bounce rate or spam report rate may result in a suspended HubSpot account. It's best to take the necessary precautions before any issues arise.

What does HubSpot consider a high bounce rate?
