We are creating a series of emails that we are sending out and would like to have an 'add to calendar' feature in the email for recipients to add the event to their calendar. Is anyone aware of anything like this? Are there any workarounds if not?

You can easily generate an ICS file and then upload it to your file library. You can then add a link (or CTA if you want) that links to your ICS file. We have used this a number of times and it is pretty easy.

Is there any way to accomplish this without leaving hubspot? I am using the latest event templates released by hubspot. I don't seem to be able to grab the event information and generate an .ics
