We are a high volume emailer sender to a large CRM, we're well established with good sender reputation and an average bounce rate of around 0.5%
Last week an email as part of a work flow returned around 4% bounces, on investigation these are all hard bounce for "policy" and all iCloud email addresses.
The email is midway through a workflow so these contacts have had around 5 weeks of emails. There is nothing obvious that would send the email spam sirens screaming and I just can't seem to work out what the issue is with this one email.
The emails all follow the same structure with the only image being a header.
Have you checked individual recipients to find out the detailed policy reasons/references that have caused the hard bounce? Most ESPs have pretty well documented reasons and explanations.
My best guess, you have been sending too many emails (volume and or frequency) to icloud emails and these had too little engagement from the recipients. Its a scenario I have seen a few times with other ESPs.
