A few people flagged that they received error messages when clicking links in the email. I know there are issue with uBlock, so I turned my extension off, but the issue kept happening.
I turned off my tracking settings for another test, and that seemed to work (even after turning my uBlock on again). I also found that anytime I'm connected to my company network, I've had the same issue unless I turn off my tracking settings. A few more things I found:
I get the error when the hubspotlinks domain is there.
I get my company domain when there is no error.
I've spoken to my company IT team as well, it seems like this is a HubSpot issue.
Is there a workaround that will still allow us to track engagement?
When tracking is on, HubSpot rewrites your links through hubspotlinks.com. Some ad blockers and company networks flag that and break the links.
Turning tracking off keeps the links clean — which is why that works.
If you're on Pro or Enterprise, you can set up a custom tracking domain to avoid this. Otherwise, your IT team could try safelisting the HubSpot tracking domain. Or, for some emails, you might choose to turn off click tracking to avoid issues.
Yes, setting up a custom tracking domain is done through your DNS.
In HubSpot, go to Settings > Domains & URLs > Tracking Domains, then connect a new tracking domain. HubSpot will give you a CNAME to add to your DNS provider. Once that’s set up and verified, your email links will use your domain instead of HubSpot’s—way better for deliverability and trust.
