Remove unsubscribers in the email bounce rate

SOLVE

Hi! We have this email workflow which consists of 5 emails with a 1-day cadence each. I noticed that whenever someone unsubscribes from the email series, Hubspot will still send them the next email and will consider it as a bounced email since it will not be delivered due to the prior unsubscription. Is there a way to not prompt sending the email once a contact already unsubscribed? Thank you!

Hi @JDePaz,

Under Menu > Contacts > Lists, create an active contact-based list and filter for:

Unsubscribed from all email is True

OR

Contact opted out of [your subscription type]

The former is a Contact properties filter, the latter a Subscriptions filter.

Once saved, navigate to your workflow. In the Settings tab under Unenrollment and suppression, add this list.

Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!

Hi @JDePaz,

This should not be the case. If contacts unsubscribe from the subscription type used for the email or if they unsubscribe from all email, the marketing email won't be sent at all. Unsent email don't count towards bounces.

Which dashboard / metric exactly are you looking at?

Hi @JDePaz,

That's correct and expected – but this should not affect in any way the bounce rate.

If you want to avoid this, you could create an active list of contacts who have unsubscribed and add that list as an exclusion list in the Settings tab of the workflow.

Best regards!

Thank you for the suggestion! One more thing, do you have a tutorial on how to create this? We want to remove those error alerts when it comes to the workflow.
