PhD Programs

Hello all ... I'm just joining this community to learn more about teaching social media but my first question is about my education. Can you offer any guidance on how to pursue a PhD in communication when none of the universities in my city offer this program? There are two programs in cities within 3 hours drive but they are super traditional (not accelerated) and require full-time commitments. I am now considering online options. The best option is looking like an accelerated program and online? I would be a non-traditional student (over 40) and don't have much confidence in scoring high on the GRE. Any advice?
