Facebook has received a $5 billion fine for data privacy violations, and will be subject to privacy checks moving forward. According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC),
Facebook deceived “users about their ability to control the privacy of their personal information." The settlement could potentially be a turning point in how the government will regulate data privacy on social media.
